Location

Calquico is located high in the rugged 'Serra-de-Castelltallat' hills, about 60km north west of Barcelona.

The property is reached via a gravel track, approximately 2km from the small farming village of Fonollosa.

Barcelona and it's international airport are within easy reach by car, and the nearby town of Rajadell (15 mins drive) offers a regular and direct train service into the Plaça de Catalunya, in central Barcelona.

The impressive mountain of Montserrat and it's famous Monastery is just half an hour away and for the skiers, the slopes of the Pyrenees are just over an hour's drive north.

Local Amenities

Fonollosa is a small agricultural village but does offer a small shop (which combines as a bakery and restaurant), Doctors Surgery and Pharmacy, Post Office, Village Hall, and bus services to St Joan de Villatorada and Manresa. There is also a primary and junior school in the village, and a bus takes older children to a separate local school.

Manresa, the nearest large town is a short drive away and offers all amenities including a good range of shops, restaurants and sporting facilities (including a large park, fishing lake, international standard tennis courts, and one of Spain's leading basketball teams).

There are also numerous supermarkets (including a massive Carrefour Hypermarket), cultural attractions - a multi-screen cinema, theatre and library. The centre of the town is attractive, with a leafy promenade and an old medieval quarter.

There are many small towns dotted around the area, each with their own amenities including weekly markets. Solsona, Vic and Calaf are worth a mention.
